Obituary - Death Claims Young Veteran Special to the Star-Journal. Kelleys Island, Jan 10 - John S. Bauman, world war veteran and popular young man, died at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Bauman at 2:15 Sundday afternoon after an illness of five months. He was aged 24 years and five months, and is survived by his parents, two sisters, the Misses Helen and Margaret, and three brothers, Richard, Edwin and Mark, all residing here. Bauman was at Camp Sherman for almost a year, but did not get over seas. He was ill with the flu in camp and some believe that this illness caused the breakdown which ended in his death. He was a member of the Knights of St. John. Impressive funeral services will be held in St. Michael's church Wednesday at 9 a.m. with a solemn requiem high mass in which three priests will participate. The service flag of the church will be draped. The Knights of St. John, in uniform will attend, escorting the body from the house to the church. **Sandusky Star Journal January 10, 1921 Page 13
